ECTA welcomes Luc Hindryckx as its new Executive Director
Brussels, 27 September 2016: With more than 20 years of experience in Business Development and Operations Leadership Experience as well as European Regulatory and Public Affairs, Luc Hindryckx has now been appointed ECTA new Executive Director.
In his professional career Luc Hindryckx also chaired the Council of the Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunications (BIPT), served on multiple boards including BEREC, ERGP and ENISA and worked for several telecommunications operators.

European Automotive-Telecom Alliance launch
37 leading companies join forces in European Automotive-Telecom Alliance to launch connected and automated driving project
Paris, Brussels, 30 September 2016 – At a Round Table on Connected and Automated Driving initiated and chaired by Günther H. Oettinger, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, the automotive and telecom industries have today formally announced the creation of Europe’s first Automotive-Telecom Alliance. The Alliance includes six leading sectorial associations, as well as 37 companies, including telecom operators, vendors, automobile manufacturers and suppliers for both cars and trucks.

Brussels, 14 September 2016: Today the European Commission kick-started the review of the telecoms regulatory framework by publishing its legislative proposal for a directive establishing the new European Electronic Communications Code. It consolidates and amends the existing EU Directives on electronic communications (the telecoms framework).

Brussels, 20 July 2016. Yesterday, the European Commission announced that it will not open an in-depth investigation into the German telecoms regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA)’s revised plan to grant exclusivity on upgrades of the copper network with vectoring technology.

30 Verbände setzen auf konzentrierten Umbau zur Gigabit-Gesellschaft
Berlin/Brüssel, 12. Juli 2016. Die führenden deutschen Breitbandverbände BREKO, BUG-LAS und VATM bekräftigen ihre deutliche Kritik an dem geänderten Entscheidungsentwurf für Vectoring im Nahbereich der Hauptverteiler (HVt). „Der ‚neue‘ Entwurf bedeutet keine Verbesserung, sondern dürfte in vielen Fällen sogar zu einer weiteren erheblichen Ver-schlechterung der Situation führen. Das betrifft auch die Vorleistungsprodukte, die dringend marktgerecht ausgestaltet werden müssen, da nur so der Wettbewerb aufrechterhalten wer-den kann. Auch mit dem zweiten Entscheidungsentwurf erhalten die Investoren nicht die von der Bundesnetzagentur versprochene Planungssicherheit", so die Verbands-Geschäftsführer Dr. Stephan Albers (BREKO), Jürgen Grützner (VATM) und Wolfgang Heer (BUGLAS): „Wir machen uns Sorgen um den Standort Deutschland. Ohne Gigabit-Netze, die schon jetzt geplant und schnellstmöglich ausgerollt werden müssen, können wir mit anderen Industrie-nationen auf Dauer nicht Schritt halten. Wir gehen davon aus, dass die EU-Kommission in jedem Fall auch hinsichtlich der vorgenommenen Veränderungen eine genauere Überprü-fung einleitet." Dafür gebe es gleich mehrere Gründe.
