Brussels, 29 January 2018: AOTA (Association des Opérateurs Télécoms Alternatifs ) a French association representing commercial regional B2C and B2B internet service providers and operators became member of ECTA.
"We are happy to join ECTA because we represent nearly 40 regional ISPs spread throughout France," says David Marciano, President of AOTA. "Our members are very active participants to digital development policies in our territories and it is important that our voice is heard also in the European digital market".
“We are very happy to welcome AOTA within our members. It is a great opportunity for ECTA to strengthen its advocacy about the increasing importance of the digitalisation of enterprises and public sector. The contribution of market players such as AOTA members should be valued at the European level as they offer choice and boost the possibility for enterprises and businesses to succeed in their digital transformation, to develop and to contribute to the economic growth and job creation in all sectors.” says Luc Hindryckx, Executive Director of ECTA.
ECTA already expressed its concerns regarding the lack of specific B2B provisions in the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) and AOTA’s experience and expertise will contribute to ECTA’s regulatory approach to these operators and markets.
There are many common objectives shared by AOTA and existing ECTA members such as stimulating competition, promoting competitive access to infrastructure and working against all anti-competitive practices which may slow the market down to the detriment of the end users.
ECTA and its members stand behind competition as the best driver of efficient investments and enabler of innovation, choice and benefits for citizens and businesses (as well as for the European economy as a whole).
About AOTA
The Association was founded in March 2017 by 22 enterprises and represents today nearly 40 regional or multi-regional operators all over France.
Since its creation, AOTA is working towards an open, diversified and dynamic market and a regulatory framework which would guarantee a good development of alternative telecommunication operators.
The Association and its members put their efforts into forging a regulatory framework which would allow them to develop and adequately respond to new economic, technological and legislative challenges.
AOTA will be represented at ECTA by David Marciano, President of AOTA and Chairman of B2B ISP "Adenis" based in Paris, and Nicolas Guillaume, Secretary of AOTA in charge of policies and regulation topics. Nicolas is CEO of B2B ISP "Netalis" based in Besancon, France.
