As CEO of 1&1 Mail & Media Applications SE, Jan Oetjen is responsible for the entire mail and portal business of United Internet AG with the leading brands GMX and WEB.DE in Germany, the marketer United Internet Media and the international brand mail.com. Before joining United Internet in 2008, he was Managing Director of the Sabre/Travelocity Group, responsible for the online travel providers’ activities in Germany and France. Since 2018 he has also been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the European netID Foundation, an independent body of the internet industry that provides and further develops the open netID login-standard.

Jan Oetjen verantwortet als CEO der 1&1 Mail & Media Applications SE das gesamte Mail- und Portalgeschäft der United Internet AG mit den in Deutschland führenden Marken GMX und WEB.DE, dem Vermarkter United Internet Media sowie der internationalen Marke mail.com. Vor seinem Einstieg bei United Internet im Jahr 2008 war er als Geschäftsführer der Sabre/Travelocity Gruppe für die Aktivitäten des Online-Reiseanbieters in Deutschland und Frankreich verantwortlich. Seit 2018 ist er zusätzlich Vorsitzender des Stiftungsrats der European netID Foundation, die als unabhängige Instanz der Internet-Branche den offenen Login-Standard netID bereitstellt und weiterentwickelt.
