National Grid Wireless harnesses partners with Geo.Metro: Geo's new London network

March 6th 2006: Geo, the national dedicated fibre network provider owned by Hutchison Whampoa, has announced that National Grid Wireless (formerly Crown Castle UK) has acquired a long term interest in significant fibre capacity in Geo.Metro, the company's recently acquired London network,. This additional capacity in the capital will augment the ability of National Grid Wireless to deliver high bandwidth products to its customers.

Our aim is to be the shared managed network service provider of choice for the converged networks of the future, says Russell Armstrong, General Manager Business Development, from National Grid Wireless. This partnership makes perfect sense because Geo can provide a high bandwidth network which we can use to deliver new services to our customers as they require them.

We purchased our new London network at the beginning of this year and it is great to have a customer as significant as National Grid Wireless already on board, says Chris Smedley, MD of Geo. National Grid Wireless is just the sort of customer that requires the bandwidth, flexibility and security of tenure that Geo's Dedicated Fibre Network solution provides. With Geo.Metro, our customers can now own and control the links between their key operational sites from the centre of London and around the UK. In partnership with Geo, they can develop bespoke, powerful data networks that are scalable and secure.

About Geo
Geo is the UK's newest national telecommunications network and has a single focus: supplying infrastructure services to meet the constantly evolving data requirements of large businesses and telecom providers. Backed by Hutchison Whampoa, Geo strips complexity from telecoms provision to allow large businesses to purchase directly the infrastructure necessary for modern high capacity data services (such as fibre and space) and create their own networks. Because the company owns a completely new future-proof network, it is scalable and robust. Building on previous investments of £270m, Geo is set to become the market leading provider of Dedicated Fibre Networks.

About National Grid Wireless
National Grid Wireless is one of the UK's leading providers of turnkey infrastructure solutions to the broadcast and mobile telecommunications industries.
