Michael Ryan

Michael Ryan is head of Arnold & Porter's telecommunications practice in London and has over 18 years' experience in the industry.

He advises UK, other European, and North American telecommunications operators, service providers and ISPs on regulatory and commercial issues and is consulted frequently by regulatory authorities and financial institutions on regulatory issues affecting the telecommunications sector.

Mr Ryan is a founding member of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA). He is a regular contributor at conferences on telecommunications law in the UK and abroad and recent publications include articles in the Computer and Telecommunications Law Review, the European Competition Law Review and the McGill Law Journal. He is the author of Canadian Telecommunications Law and Regulation (1993, with semi-annual updates), the standard Canadian text on the subject.

Prior to joining Arnold & Porter in 2000, Michael Ryan was at Coudert Brothers from 1994 and before that he was Vice President Law and General Counsel for a Canadian telecommunications operator.
